“Think of the two major possibilities here: Either the studios owe untold millions to their talents and paying it out will decimate their stock prices, or they owe so little because there really is no money in streaming and the bubble of their entire 21st century business model will burst in spectacular fashion. And make no mistake: this is a bubble. This is the inevitable climax of a stockholder-driven hunger for infinite growth, despite the fact that, by design, such a thing cannot and should not exist. The infection of Wall Street has overwhelmed the entertainment industry beyond repair, leading to cultural vandals like David Zaslav to be appointed with the callous duty of strip-mining decades’ of artistic beauty for pennies of tax write-offs. The past and future are frivolous in comparison to the short-term demands that the line keep going up.”

I’m Christian and respect the order of creation as God intended it but I’m not gonna lie if I could take a massive vat of agar and grow an alive shopping mall made out of red blood and meat and feed it living human bodies to make it expand larger with more shops and amenities, Without hesitation, Without question I would do exactly that

Genuinely and unironically my philosophy abt music has expanded to “stop writing off music because it’s from a specific genre” and I think that could be applied to most mediums actually

Is country music really all bad or are you only catching snippets of christonationalist propaganda on the radio? Are horror movies always shallow torture porn or are you just thinking of trailers you saw for slasher movies? Are fantasy novels only for kids or was the last one you picked up Harry Potter? Is anime always fan service or are you just running into ecchi clips online over and over and over? Are you looking for good media or are you finding bad media and considering it representative?

I’m going to need y'all to preemptively chill out because the actor’s strike is going to mean a lot of things including shows and movies we’ve been anticipating being pushed way back, and absolutely minimal press tours for the next however long this lasts.

The effects of the writer’s strike are months down the road which made it a whole lot easier to support because as third parties we weren’t really being affected (yet), the effect of the actor’s strike is going to be immediate and we’re going to get a lot more propaganda of “these people are overpaid to begin with.”

Remember our desire for content does not supersede these people’s rights to live.

Support unions, support the strikes.

Yeah that is going to be the first propaganda out of the gate for the actors’ strike. The studios will cite major stars who make 20 mil per movie or 1 mil per episode and complain about these big tentpole blockbusters being unprofitable and/or your fave show being cancelled if they have to pay the leads even more. That is a flat-out LIE. The major stars already make more than union minimums, the strike will not affect their compensation. Remember that the vast VAST majority of working actors are in the same situation as the writers w/r/t residuals and not making enough to live on/have health insurance if they don’t have a second or even a third job. Even an actor who, looking at their list of credits, seems to work fairly steadily in single-episode roles in proceedurals or bit parts in movies and limited series, the traditional ‘character actor,’ often cannot make a living because of the modern streaming format.

Support the strikes.
